Steak pizzaiola recipe
Ingredients
- 2 New York or sirloin steaks
- ¼ teaspoon (tsp) of salt
- 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of cooking oil
- 1 tablespoon (tbsp) of chopped garlic
- 2 sliced bell peppers
- 1 sliced onion
- 4 sliced pepperoncini
- 15 ounces (oz) of marinara sauce
- ½ teaspoon (tsp) of dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon (tsp) of red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of chopped parsley
Directions
- Sprinkle the salt on the steak.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Add the steaks.
- Sear until brown. About 2 minutes on each side.
- Move the steaks to a plate.
- Add the garlic to the hot oil.
- Cook for one minute.
- Add the onions and bell peppers.
- Cook until soft. About 4 minutes.
- Mix in the pepperoncini, marinara sauce, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
- Bring to a simmer.
- Add the steaks into the sauce and simmer until medium rare. About 8 minutes.
- Move the steaks to a cutting board.
- Let the steaks rest for about 5 minutes.
- While the steaks are resting, continue to simmer the sauce until thickened.
- Slice the steaks thinly.
- Spread the steak slices out on a plate and top with the sauce.
