Healthy pepper steak recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound (lb) of lean flank steak
- ¼ cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of dry sherry or wine
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of sugar
- ¼ cup of water
- 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of oil
- 4 cloves of chopped garlic
- 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of chopped ginger
- 2 chopped scallions
- 2 sliced green peppers
- 1 large chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon (tsp) of corn starch
Directions
- In a large bowl, stir together the soy sauce, sherry or wine, sugar, and water.
- Add the steak to the bowl, cover and let it sit for 15 minutes to marinate.
- Add the oil to a hot pan.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and scallions.
- Stir for 30 seconds.
- Remove the meat from the marinade and add to the pan.
- Cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the green peppers and onions, and cook for another 3 minutes.
- In a clean bowl, add the cornstarch to a small amount of the marinade to form a slurry.
- Add the slurry back to the marinade bowl, and stir.
- Add the marinade to the meat and vegetables in the pan, and cook until thickened and bubbly.
